Kathryn Lee Scott
Kathryn Lee Scott passed away at her home in Cypress at the age of 63 on August 1, 2012. She was born in California on May 5, 1949. Kathy received her B.A. at the California State University in Fullerton and her M.S. at University of California in Davis. She was a writer for more than 25 years for all forms of publications, including scientific and technical newsletters, local newspapers and organizational monthlies. For five years, she covered local politics and events in Southern California, often earning praise about her accuracy and fairness. As a correspondent, she included research information in articles about local people. Kathy worked for various newspapers including News-Enterprise, Orange City News, Buena Park News, Cypress-La Palma News, and the Garden Grove Journal. She also authored a website, Science in Science Fiction, where she posted her opinions about the feasibility of the science used by various writers of movies and television shows. Her life included numerous years of studying ballet, jazz dance, playing a wind instrument and acting in amateur/ school music productions. Kathy was a vibrant, creative person who loved animals, writing, ballet, music, and traveling with her husband. She loved her children and grandchildren and she had many friends through her water aerobics class who will miss her dearly. She played a mean game of Scrabble and had a wonderful sense of humor and a great laugh. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her. Kathy was predeceased in death by her parents Edward Pape and Mariann Pape and one of her daughters, Rebecca (Becky) Pape. She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Dan Scott and daughter Arielle Simmons (married to Derek Simmons) and her two grandchildren Rhianna and Riley Simmons. Kathy is also survived by her twin sister Patricia (Patty) and older sister Pam.
