As a 14 year old Jim Beaver and I were in Troop 57, Garland 1st Methodist sponsored. Our troop had gone to camp out at lake Texhoma over the holiday break in December, I think. Jim and I were in the same tent, if I recall. I remember someone turned on a flashlight in the tent and laughed. Jim and I turned on our lights aimed at each other's faces. Runny noses had changed to icicles from our nostrils. A little gross now as an adult...but really, really funny for junior high campers. I'll never forget how cold that trip was. You were a very funny friend, Jim. Peace be with you.

Jim was my first real boyfriend. Valentines Day in the fourth grade, Mrs. Moudy, someone put candy in my box. Several of us girls were "in love" with Johnny Oglesby and thought he put it in my box, but it turned out to be Jim. I was so thrilled and surprised. He walked me home from school that day and we became best of friends all through school. Isn't it ironic that two of my kids were redheads. I'll never forget you friend.

I was on the that same campout, with Troop 57, we all nearly froze to death, they moved us into a warehouse the next night. Rest in peace Jim Beaver, not gone just traveld on.
