Some things I remember about Jimmy Stroup.  First, he pronounced his surname like "strap."  I always thought that was odd, but he was no ordinary character.  As I remember, his father was the Gaston County Police Chief before the City-County police merged.  Also, Jimmy had talent.  He teamed up with Bill McCarter to do a very clever comedy routine at our Junior Class and senior class productions - which our very talented class performed instead of Class Plays.  Jimmy was very likable and friendly.  Shortly after we began this website, he seemed to disappear as far as I could find out.  I always thought he was deceased until a classmate told me that he saw a recent obituary.  It is included in this site, but gives almost no specifics.
