MAX ELLIS GRIGG

OBITUARY

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Max Grigg, of Phoenix, Arizona on Thursday, September 9th, 2021, at the age of 82 years.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sandra; children: Andrew (Jennifer) Grigg; sister Doris Ball; grandchildren: Brandon Grigg and Brianna Grigg including many relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by parents Robert Grigg Sr, Alpha Grigg, sister Jeanette Whitworth and brother Robert Grigg Jr.

His hobbies included flying small aircraft, RV camping, hiking, dirt bikes, amateur ham radio since 1956, call signs - K7MAX-K4JZE-W7IJ and photography. He enjoyed Mexican food and a darn good margarita, don't forget Tony's ice cream back home in Gastonia. His favorite pet was always a poodle, the most recent is Jacket.

He retired from General Electric after 49 years as a Communications Engineer, and then moved on to work at Central Arizona Project for 8 years as a Planner then happily retired.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at Hospice of the Valley, John C. Lincoln Hospital, Acacia Health Center and his daughter-in-law Jennifer, for their care and compassion.

In his honor, you may donate to the National Association of Amateur Radio ARRL http://www.arrl.org/memorial-gifts , Hospice of the Valley, or a charity of your choice.

A private service will be held on September 29th, 2021, at the family's request.

Max was a very dear friend. I rememer from our high school days that he was always quiet and unassuming.  He lived a full and fruitful life.  I got to know him even better in our later lives - sharing some similar medical complaints, but he was also my backup on this website.  He will be missed - and hard to replace.
