BESSEMER CITY-Harry Eroy Poteat, 77, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sept. 6, 2013, at CaroMont Regional Medical Cen-ter, Gastonia.
He was born July 7, 1936 in Gaston County, son of the late Thomas Lovelace Poteat and Flossie Lively Poteat.
Harry loved his family very much. He was a member of Ragan Wesleyan Church, Bessemer City and a former member of West Franklin Baptist Church of Gastonia. He was an avid bowler.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Monday at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 S. York Road, Gastonia, officiated by the Revs. Kenny Cobb and John Harper.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home and other times at the home of Kathy Wilson, 2620 Sherry Lane, Gastonia. Interment will be after the service at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia.
Harry is survived by: his wife, Yvonne Hannah Poteat; son, Harry Kevin Poteat and wife, Tatjana; daughters, Kathy Poteat Wilson and husband, Rodney, Lisa Poteat Lineberger; grandchildren, Mike Falls, Shannon Wilson, Chris Falls, Shawn Wilson, Amber Falls, Scotty Lineberger, Jeremy Poteat, Emily Poteat, Megan Lineberger, Cory Lineberger, Makayla Kincaid and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: his first wife, Jean Grayson Poteat; daughters, Susie Poteat, Joyce "Jojo" Poteat Falls; brothers, James, Bill, Pete, Junior and Auther Poteat.
Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
