Valerie Arden Danahy, 72, of Marshall, passed away Friday, June 21, 2013 at home.
Val was born to the late Evelyn and McLean Arthur June 7, 1941 in Augusta, GA. Valerie graduated from Frank L. Ashley High School in 1959 and earned a degree from Sullins Jr. College in Bristol, VA in 1961. Also attended Florida Southern College. Val married Casey Danahy in Anchorage, Alaska, July 1970, and they lived in Alaska, Oregon, and Asheville before relocating to Marshall in 1998.
Val worked with Northwest Airlines and was SATO (acting manager) at MacDill AFB, Tampa Fla. Transferred to Alaska after the 1964 earthquake and worked at Elmendorf AFB, SATO, and as a travel agent in Anchorage, AK.
She loved to read, sew, and was an avid gardener. Other interests included cake decorating, crafting, jewelry making and baking.
Val is survived by her husband; one daughter; one grandson; one granddaughter; and two nieces. |
