Obituary

GASTONIA - Beatrice "Joan" Carver Redding, 74, entered into her Heavenly Home on July 9, 2015.

She was born in Gaston County on Nov. 24, 1940, to the late Daisy Lois Coyle and Forrest Benjamin Carver Sr.

Joan was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of South Marietta Street Baptist Church and very much involved in the assisted living ministry at Brookdale Place on Robinwood Road until December of 2011 when she became ill and was unable to return as the pianist. Joan was a dedicated wife, a fantastic floral designer, cake decorator, sewing enthusiast and cook. Her number one priority while here was to serve the Lord and show his love through her actions to her family and others!

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Maurice C. Carver, brother-in-laws, Don Paysour, JB Hodgins; sister-in-laws, Betty Hoffman Carver and Sylvia Carver; nieces, Rosemary Hodgins Rogers and Cindy Paysour Hovis and nephews, Danny Carver, Samuel D. Redding and Charles K. Redding.

Survivors include her loving husband of almost 53 years, Boyce Maynard Redding; her three sons, Mi-chael B Redding, and wife Elizabeth Smith Redding of Madison, Ala., Eric E. Redding of Dallas, and Phil-lip A. Redding of Gastonia; Michael's oldest daughter, Tabitha Redding Sparks and husband Jason of Newberry, Fla.; grandsons, Austin M. Redding, Nicholas J. Redding, sons of Michael and Liz; great-grandson, Hayden Sparks and great-granddaughter, Sophia Sparks; sisters, Sarah Hodgins of Greenville, S.C.; Eveyln Miles of Bessemer City, Frances Waters and brothers, William Perry Carver, Forrest Benja-min (Benny) Carver Jr., all of Gastonia, numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces and great-great nephews and nieces

The family expresses heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Alan Clark and staff at PACE Senior TLC, the staff of Peak Resources Gastonia for their excellent and loving care that helped make our journey much easier during this process.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at South Marietta Street Baptist Church, 911 South Marietta Street, Gastonia.

Funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at South Marietta Street Baptist Church with Dr. James D. Crocker and the Rev. Tommy Self officiating.

Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery which is adjacent to East Baptist Church, 114 N. Church Street, Gastonia.
