KINGS MOUNTAIN-Gary Donald Lowery, age 76, died Monday, May 7, 2018, at Hospice Wendover. 

Born in Rutherford County on May 31, 1941, he was the son of the late Johnny Roy and Helen Lois Newton Lowery. 

Gary was a member of Landmark Baptist Church, where he was a member of the F. E. W. and the Senior Sunday School Class. 

Gary was a salesman at Tindol Ford where he retired. He enjoyed woodworking and painting. He enjoyed painting signs and giving them away. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Donnie Lowery.

Gary is survived by his wife of 32 years, JoAnn White Lowery; a son, Scott Lowery and wife Debi of Greer, South Carolina; a daughter, Judy Dover of Kings Mountain; four grandchildren, Garrett Lowery, Kairi Lowery, Alesha Newman, Ashley Bowen and husband Josh; two great-grandchildren, Jacob Bowen and Jaden Bowen; two sisters, Brenda Dorris and husband Don of St. Augustine, Florida and Sandra Dickson of Kings Mountain; a brother, Johnny Lowery and Janie of Easley, South Carolina; and several loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May, 10, 2018, at Landmark Baptist Church with the Rev. Allen Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. before the service.
