Otis Lamar Peach, Jr. CHARLOTTE - Otis Lamar Peach, Jr. (Lamar), 74, of Charlotte, NC passed away on February 5, 2015 at CMC-Pineville. He was born in Gastonia, NC, a son of Martha Burgess and Otis Lamar Peach, Sr. He was predeceased by his parents and his younger brother, Burgess Peach.

Lamar is survived by his devoted wife Mary; his sister, Dee Peach Upchurch (husband Fred) of Gastonia, NC and his brother-in-law Gene Brown (wife Caye) of Hanahan, SC. He earned the highest rank in Boy Scouting, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout.

He graduated from Gastonia High School and from Guilford College. His career was spent in computer programming at Unisys Corporation, at Policy Management System Corporation (now part of CSC) and at Comporium. He had fond memories of friendships made at those locations. He met his wife of nearly forty-four years while working on a project at Unisys (then Burroughs Corporation.)

Lamar was an avid competitive bridge player who attained the level of Diamond Life Master. His favorite partner was his wife Mary. They played regularly at state and national tournaments and at the Charlotte Bridge Association in Dilworth. There they made many friends who became family and supported them with love and concern especially during Lamar's illness.

Lamar also loved to follow sports: watching games; scanning the internet; the morning newspaper, and having discussions with fellow sports fans. In years past, he and Mary attended games in Charlotte and away. His favorite teams were the Atlanta Braves, the Carolina Panthers, and especially Duke basketball. Lamar was the consummate gentleman: kind, thoughtful, well respected, knowledgeable, interested in one and all, and possessed of a wicked sense of humor and an enviable memory.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte Region, 1420 East Seventh Street Charlotte, NC 28204; Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1000 East Morehead Street, Charlotte, 28204; or the charity of one's choice.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, February 9th, 2016, at 11:00am. at Covenant Presbyterian Church. Robertson Funeral & Cremation Service is serving the family,www.throbertson.com.
