I only have the fondest memories of Ken Rhodes. Although we were good friends in high school, we lost touch after we graduated from high school. I didn't realize that he had gone to California until he came to one of the reunions years later. I barely recognized him - as we all would not if we hadn't seen one another for a long time. Ken had gained weight and lost some hair, but the same wonderful personality and sense of humor were still there. He was an engineer, married with children, and living in California. We reconnected immediately as if not a day had passed since we had seen each other. The last reunion he attended, he was so sweet and kind to me and he promised to ask me for a dance at the next reunion (which he missed due to his illness) I guess I was one of the last to learn of his illness - so to say I was "shocked' is an understatement. I never heard from Ken again and now am so saddened to hear my friend has died. I will always remember Ken as the good-looking football player who sat behind me in math class, bumping the back of my seat to get my attention, and smiling sheepishly when I wouild turn around to make him stop. What nice memories I have...
I hope to see Ken again one day in a new and better place.
