Annie Strickland ObituaryGASTONIA - Annie C. Strickland, passed away on January 23 at CaroMont Health. She was born in Gaston County in 1940, a daughter of the late James C. Strickland and Vista Austin Strickland.

Annie worked for BellSouth for 37 years and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She was a lifelong member of Flint Groves Baptist Church where she was involved with the youth, Sunday School, and numerous mission trips. She was an amazing sister and aunt who loved to travel.

Annie has lived at Carillon Assisted Living for the past 2 and 1/2 years and before that she lived in the family home on Apple Street.

Annie is survived by her sisters, Carolyn Rayfield and husband, Hinkle of Cherryville, Phyllis Johnson and husband, Gary of Versailles, KY, and Libby McNamara and husband, Jay of Greenville, SC; 7 nieces and nephews; and 22 great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant sister, Helen Frances Strickland.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 26th in the Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors with Pastor Jeff Watts officiating. Burial will follow in Gaston Memorial Park.

A special thank you to Dr. Ekram, nurses and staff on 6 Floor N. at CaroMont Health. They gave Annie special care and respect while she was hospitalized.
