After graduation, I went Barber-Scotia College on a 4-year basketball scholorship. I graduated with a BA in Sociology in May 1996. I was also a member of the women's softball team and played short stop. My professional portfolio consists of 25 years of working with children and adults with developmental challenges and disabilities in group homes, Gaston and Mecklenburg County Schools. I worked in CPS Investigations for two years at Gaston County DSS, and as a Mental Health Case Manager at Gaston-Lincoln Mental Health for three years. My longest job to date was ten years working in the Social Work Department at the psychiatric hospital at Behavioral Health Charlotte now known as Atrium Health. Currently, I work for Cardinal Innovations Healthcare where I assist adults with developmental disabilities transition out of retirement centers, adult care homes, homeless shelters, etc. into independent living.
My favorite school story is being crowned Homecoming Queen. This moment was truly an honor because I couldn't have accomplished this award without the votes from my classmates and student body of Hunter Huss High School. I would like to say "Thank You" to the Class of 1990! You made An Old Fashioned Homecoming a night to remember for me!
