GASTONIA - Verne Edward "Petey" Shive Jr. passed away on Nov. 1, 2015.
A native of Gastonia, he was the son of Margaret Roberts Shive Craig and the late Verne Edward Shive Sr. Petey graduated from Ashley High School and Western Carolina University and worked with Threads. He enjoyed NASCAR and had a great love for dogs, especially his companion, Rooter.
A service to celebrate his life will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia Founders Chapel with Pastor John Stanley officiating.
The family will greet friends following the service at the funeral home and also at other times at his mother's home.
Survivors include his mother, Margaret Shive Craig; sister and brother-in-law, Margo and Greg Vaughn; niece, Kelsey Vaughn; nephew, Gregory Vaughn; step siblings, Donna and Johnny Fields, Rick and Rhonda Craig; step nieces and nephews, Emily and Patrick Craig, Kennedy and Wes McCall, Craig Letson, Becka and Pat Tuttle; 3 step grand nieces; numerous cousins.
