Art Queen age 79, of Gastonia, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2026, at a hospital in Augusta, Georgia. A native of Murphy, North Carolina, Art spent part of his childhood in the Hiwassee Dam community before relocating to Gastonia with his family. He graduated from Ashley High School and later attended North Carolina State University. Art began his professional career as a purchasing manager before establishing himself as a successful independent sales contractor. Throughout his career, he represented numerous companies, most recently serving as a representative for Jackson Kayak.

He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Gastonia, North Carolina where he served as both a greeter and usher. Art’s life revolved around his work, and he loved every minute of it.

He was the son of the late Arnold Hubert and Ella Hamby Queen. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Brenda Gilbert and Ateaka Wiley.

Surviving are three sons, Jeff Queen and wife, Angela, of Summerville, South Carolina, Brad Queen of Pleasant Garden, North Carolina, and Mark Queen of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Kayla, Jessica, Megan, and Carsyn Queen; and one sister, Deanna Burgess of Greenwood, South Carolina; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 26, 2026 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Johnathan Bryson officiating.
