Maford Wilbert Tate worked with me at Gaston County Dyeing Machine Co. In Stanley and Mt. Holley for 26 years. He was a senior designer in our engineering dept. He was known to us as Dub. Dub was very active in church, loved softball and basketball, and was a devoted father of 3 girls, Amber, Farrah, and Courtney. I spoke to his wife Dale, told her about our website, and that I would like to share his memory with our classmates.. Although Dub was always very.active and physically fit he died suddenly in 1996 of a heart attack, a shock to us all. Dale lives in Alexis, N. C. and is the retired Postmaster of that small rural town north of Stanley. Her home address is 163 Charlotte St. Alexis,N.C. 28006. She is the proud grandmother of 8.
I will very much miss seeing M.W. at this reunion. We had wandered around together at the Ashley high tour for a long time at the last reunion. He was very emotional about his years at Ashley. He and I were in the same homeroom all 3 years and with two other guys had lunch together almost every day.
