Ronald Flick

Ronald “Ron” Michael Flick, 79 of Scottsbluff, Nebraska passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2021. His memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel with Pastor Tim Hebbert officiating. Inurnment will follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. At his request, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gering Zion Church or Panhandle Humane Society. Ron was born on September 13, 1942 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Melvin Flick Sr and Louise (Koncilia) Flick. He attended Eastward Elementary and graduated from Gering High School in 1960. In 1967 he started the oil division for Slafter Oil and grew the business to a 7 state area. He earned many awards from all of the major oil companies and won many trips around the world for his achievements. He was on the Jobber council for Conoco, Shell & Chevron Oil companies. He worked for Slafter Oil for 44 years. He began working for Dooley Oil in 2013 alongside his son Mike. He retired from Dooley Oil in May, 2020.

He was united in marriage to Sandra Dolberg on July 7, 1963 and to this union a son Michael was born. They made their home in the valley.

Ron loved and enjoyed many hunting trips to Alaska and Texas. He also enjoyed 2 hunting safari’s in Africa with his son Mike. His biggest hobby was collecting guns and going to gun shows. He spent numerous hours repairing guns and was very knowledgeable on the different guns and ammunition. He was a member of the Moose and Eagles Lodge, Pheasants Forever and Ducks Unlimited. He thought the world of his granddaughter Teagan, who he spoiled any way he could. They loved giving each other a hard time. Ron was a family man and thought the world of his wife Sandy, his son Mike and daughter-in-law Tera.

Ron enjoyed his morning ritual of going to coffee with the many friends he had made over the years. After enjoying his time at coffee he would stop by his nephew Kevin’s shop to see him. Survivors include his wife of 58 years Sandra; son and daughter-in-law Michael and Tera Flick of Morrill; granddaughter Teagan Flick of Morrill; brother and sister-in-law Mel and Barbara Flick, Jr of Mitchell; sister Nola Schwab of Gering and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister-in-law Miles and Virginia Flick, father-in-law and mother-in-law Ed and Leah Dolberg, in-laws Rodney “Rocky” and Patty Dolberg and Loretta Allen. Ron will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
