Local Beer Posted Wednesday, January 20, 2010 04:52 PM Well that other forum died abruptly. I thought all you Wisconsin beer fans (I know I am) would be happy to know that here in the Pacific Northwest, the U.S Capital of Microbrews and small batch beers, PBR has been seeing a comeback and been pretty popular the last couple years. As if that wasnt enough, I was at the store last night and what did I see for 9 bucks a six pack but none other than Lienenkugles! Go Chippawa Falls Wisconsin! |

RE: Local Beer Posted Thursday, January 21, 2010 02:10 PM So glad that you got your Leinie's Eric! Talking about Pabst Blue Ribbon makes me think of this. There was always this old guy, he seemed to be everywhere when I was a kid, that wore a hat made out of PBR cans. It looked as though he had cut the sides of the aluminum cans and punched holes in them so that he (or possibly his wife) knitted together the cans into a hat with red, white and blue yarn. Does anyone remember this guy? I don't even remember what he looked like other than that I couldn't stop staring at his hat. |

RE: Local Beer Posted Sunday, January 24, 2010 08:50 PM I remember that guy. Drove around in a rusted van with the windows blacked out. He was always offering me candy to help him find his lost puppy. Aw, that's just wrong! |

RE: Local Beer Posted Sunday, January 31, 2010 01:02 AM Oh I didn't buy any.....I just laughed that with all the flavor full beers from the Northwest made with local (and sometimes organic) ingredients that run about 6-7 bucks, Leiniee's was able to get away with charging 9 bucks for a 6 pack like it was some kind of imported exotic! Awesome! EDG |

RE: Local Beer Posted Thursday, February 11, 2010 07:02 AM EJ....did that guy's van have a "Rock and Roll" mural painted on the side? Something like a princess warrior with a sword and shield wearing a leather bikini standing atop a slain dragon. Man I wish I could find one of those vans in good shape. I sure miss them. Kay, that guy with the beer cans....my dad! ha ha ha G

RE: Local Beer Posted Thursday, February 11, 2010 10:45 PM Dude! Too funny! I'm crying 'cuz I'm laughing so hard thinking about that image on the side of the van. Don't forget the little heart-shaped, tinted window on the side up in the corner. Wonder if my company would mind if I took the company van to a detail shop and had the "Warrior Goddess" painted on the side? |

RE: Local Beer Posted Tuesday, April 6, 2010 03:05 PM Speaking of Vans....I saw that the A-team was making a comback with a big Hollywood production! Too bad its wasted, anyone that would remember that show is probably not interested in seeing it on the big silver screen....well I take that back, I dunno it might be fun for a guys-night out and few beers. Kinda like Zombieland! Hello! best movie of the year last year, even the wife loved that one! Later, Eric G |

RE: Local Beer Posted Tuesday, April 6, 2010 07:05 PM Saw the preview for that A-team movie. I concur - probably not worth seeing unless some "grown-up" liquid refreshment coupled with a group of nostalgic buddies is involved. And speaking of nostalgia and previews, I took the 10 yr. old to see Avatar a couple months back and the preview for Clash of the Titans came on. I leaned over to him and said, "This is a re-make and the original movie came out when I was about your age, son." Yeah, he could have cared less but still felt obliged to humor me and replied, "That's great Dad (now shut up before you start telling me how, when you were my age, you used to paint your face and stick your tongue out like that 90 year old dude who has that reality show on A&E on Sunday nights)." So a couple weeks ago Turner Classic Movies is showing the original and I DVR it so I can show Ryan what the original was like. Big mistake! For him and me. Dude, that movie was weak! Thank God for CGI. I haven't seen the latest version but "stop-action motion" is almost comical. Even my 6 yr. old was asking me, "Dad, why is that flying horse moving like that?" So Zombieland was good? In the sense that it's not Oscar-worthy good but rather sophomoric humor, Family Guy, good? |
