Darrin was a cool guy, pretty much not in my class.  He didn't have the advantage of zits and a skinny frame as guys like me did. He was a handsome football player, a track star and real popular with the girls.  He was also a scuba diver who aspired to a career in Oceanography. He would surely have been as successful in life as any of us.

PFC Darrin Higdon lost his life in South Vietnam in April, 1966. He, along with classmates Richie Long and Bob Janowitz, gave their lives while their fellow veterans came home to live out our dreams in America. Life was not fair.

Darrin "Higgs" Higdon was my childhood best friend from 4th grade through high school. We became archery hunters together, scuba divers, huge fans of "Sea Hunt", go-cart builders and racers, Boy Scouts, and
dreamers.
His dreams were cut soooo short by the miserable fate of the Viet Nam War. He went willingly and pursued his duty with the same excited zeal with which he pursued everything he did.
He is remembered in my daily prayers, and I hope you will include him in yours also. Thanks!
