I pretty much agree the majority of the Beatles stuff is great (And a lot of the Beach Boys too) but hearing the early early stuff (which doesn't get much air play; too simple I guess) like "I Want To Hold Your Hand", etc. really takes me back to my grade school days, the Ed Sullivan Show gig and the very beginning of the British Invasion. Another rather obscure Beatle favorite of mine is Rocky Racoon. And I think I wore out my Norwegian Wood album.

My son loved looking through my vinyl; Retro Rock & Roll was cool when he was in High School. My son loved my used Magical Mystery Tour album cover; at the time it was the closest he would come to handling a collectors item.

My other music memory was My first real unchaperoned Boy/Girl Date - the Beach Boys live at Phoenix Veterans Memorial Colliseum.

ALL great memories.

Just a great big THANK YOU to all the volunteers (and class members in attendance) who made the 40th year Reunion of the GHS Class of '68 such a smashing success!!

I have a couple of questions for you all..

I remember so well 2 amazing performances in the GHS auditorium. I know there were many more, and would love to have someone post here with any that they remember!

1. John Raitt (father of Bonnie Raitt, and star of many broadway shows, including Carousel). Mr. Raitt performed several songs from broadway shows, and then opened up for audience Q/A's.

2. Up With People. This amazing group that toured in the late 60s performed a full live stage show with singing, dancing, acrobatics, etc.

Also, I have a vivid memory of the home football games where Mr. Maves was the illustrious VOICE. He had some great phrase-ology that stuck in my mind until recently. It seems that as the offense was 'charging' he would use the word 'host' or 'army'... but I can't remember the exact way he put it! If any of you do, please clarify!

Thanks again to the planners and everyone who attended this weekend! Can't wait for the next one!

Thanks to every single one of you who attended the reunion. Your presense was an important piece of the big picture, so thanks for making it a priority. I especially want to thank those who were able to find the time and energy to volunteer on the committee. As you probably figured out, it's a lot of fun and makes the whole thing more meaningful. We appreciate every little bit you were able to do.

We are in the process of completing the paperwork and disbursing the funds to close out our account from this reunion and if you attended, you will be hearing through email from Linda LeGendre soon with the details of that.
Our next project will be to make and send you all the CDs from the reunion. Steve Neklia will be working on that. Then Ron Barton will work with him to post pictures and maybe the whole wonderful slide show on this website.

A committee will be formed to submit ideas for a future Military Tribute at Glendale High School. Please let me or Frank Paden know if you'd like to be a part of that committee.

2011 will be Glendale High School's 100 year anniversary and a committee will be formed to plan a celebration for that, so contact the principal, Debra Jordon, if you would like to participate in that.

Our class has been invited to participate in a four year combined reunion with the classes around us in five years, so be sure to keep your contact information updated so you can be contacted for that.

Again, thanks for all of you help in making this reunion so much fun for all of us.

Martha

Marty, thank you for being the hub around which the reunion takes form; the volunteers (spokes) who carry the load; and the GHS Class of 1968 (rim) who attended making the perpetual wheel go round and round. Job well done to everyone.
Special thanks to Kerry D. for presenting the military tribute in my absence.
I'm Frank Paden and I approve this message...

Thanks to Martha, Linda, Shelley, Pam and all the others who worked on the reunion. It was fabulous - such fun to see so many people after all these years. What a nice group of people we all were.

I haven't laughed so much in ages. I'm looking forward to the next one!
