Although I can't remember the exact year, Allison died young. It was an accident that happened when she was away at college, just a few years after high school graduation.

I remember Allison as "Bun" Campbell. We came up through grade school together. I recall playing 4 square with her in third grade(Bun always won). She tormented me in 5th grade - she once stole my back row seat by telling me all the cool kids wanted me to sit with them in the front of the room. Once I switched to the front she and all the cool kids moved to the back. It was a good lesson for me - don't let flattery fool you! By senior year in high school we were friends again and Bun & I got drunk in gym glass on vodka she snuck in a bottle of orange juice.

We continued to be friends in at U of I Champaign/Urbana, although I didn't see her often. Sometime during our sophomore year (1974-75) Bun jumped, or fell, or was pushed, from the top of the Psychology building stairwell and fell to her death. It was all very mysterious and deeply shocking. We never knew the official cause of death and it feels unfinished to me to this day.

Yes, she left us far too soon, April '75. She knew how to live while she was around, and she made a lot of us a lot happier and better for having known her. I remember her with an eye patch in kindergarten, and her not wanting to sleep at nap time. We were friends then, and we were friends in the end. She is missed.

Allison, better know as Bun to most of us, died tragically from a fall in the psychology building at the University of Illinois. It happened on April 28, 1974. We were freshmen and I heard the awful news on the radio the next morning - on my birthday. I will never forget it, and I think of her every birthday. They never determined the cause of her fall. She was partially unclothed, so the evidence points to a struggle and shove. She was so fiesty, fun, thoughtful, and unique. She taught me to play Blackbird on the guitar, too. Beautiful and free spirit. See you on the on the other side someday, Bun.
