All my thoughts and prayers go out to Linda's immediate family and extended family. While I was not what one could say a close friend of hers during our adult working life, I spend may hours with Linda, Jeanie, Janice, Connie, and many others at a ton of church activities prior to High School, then following up with many HS and  Swim team activities while at South.

She was always a class act, always had a smile on, and had tremendous positive energy regarding her life and her Faith. Her parents constantly opened their hearts and home over the years while we were growing up and I know from the long list of volunteering Linda did in Cincinnati, she lived her life in much the same way as her wonderful parents.

The world will miss you Linda.

Thank you Don, for your reflections.  I'm still in shock.  The world doesn't seem right without Linda here.  Her middle name Joy is perfect for her as that is what I remember.  Her constant smile.  Her constant concern for her family and friends.  Her sparkling eyes and sharp wit.

Linda and I started in First Grade together at Lyon School with Mrs. Foy.  We were subsequently in a class together each year through 12th grade.  Pool parties at her house were pretty cool when we were in first grade.  They got better with each succeeding year.  During college and once we started working, Linda and her Mom would always have us over during the holidays to catch up.  Of course, there might be a small political discussion.  I used to remind her of her ripping an LBJ button off my shirt in 1964.  With the military, I came over to her view eventually.  I appreciate her helping her son Michael become an officer in the USAF.  He was able to serve in the Appleby's beloved Colorado.  I also appreciate her stepping up to be my son Thomas's godmother.  Needless to say, he's in shock too.  I told Tom about his godmom's passing at a game at Fenway Park.  I last saw Linda on a beautiful night for baseball at Coors Field June 2014 while our youngest attended a hockey camp at the Air Force Academy.  I thought I would get another chance to go to a game with her and Don.  She's always been so athletic and interested in physical fitness.

God bless Linda.  You made the world a better place for us all.  The nice thing about being human is that she will always live forever in our hearts and souls.  That is what happens to great people and the people they touch.
