Alan 54 passed away Dec. 5, 2008, in Glenwood Springs.

He was born in Glenwood Springs to Jack and Patty (Henry) Fitzgerald.

He loved Glenwood and the valley. Alan was an avid outdoorsman, camping, hunting, four wheeling and snowmobiling. He grew up playing on the Flat Tops above Transfer Trail.

Alan graduated from Glenwood Springs High School in 1972. He enjoyed sports and was an honor student. He attended business school in Colorado Springs.

He was a carpet layer and flooring installer for many years in the valley. He owned Glenwood Custom Carpet for a short time before his death.

Alan is survived by his mother, Patty (Henry) Letey of Glenwood Springs; his father, Jack Fitzgerald, and stepmother Rose of Grand Junction; sister Rauna Sarno and brother-in-law Michael of Fresno, Calif.; brothers Dale Fitzgerald of New Castle and Randy (Kathy) Fitzgerald of Glenwood Springs; nieces Kinsee and Koedi Fitzgerald, Melissa Sarno and Rebecca Fitzgerald; and nephew Bryan Fitzgerald.

Alan was preceded in death by nephew Shawn Sarno.

A funeral service will not be held. Family requests no flowers be sent. Family and friends will gather at the family home at 738 Lincoln on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, from 2-5 p.m.

Alan will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was loved dearly.
