Renee (Owens) Potrafka passed to be with our Lord on April 30th, 2019 at the University of Michigan Medical Center after a month-long illness. She is survived by her husband, Ives Potrafka, her parents Stanley and Jeannine Owens, her brother and sister-in-law Timothy and Melissa Owens, her brother and sister-in-law Clifford and Kimberly Owens, and her brother Carl Owens and two step children, Jennifer Potrafka and Benjamin Potrafka. Renee is also survived by her nieces Geneva, Valencia, Alexandria and her nephew Isaac, all of whom she loved very much and many Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.

Renee was a practicing nurse at Dignity Health Camelback Emergency Room in Glendale, Arizona for the past two years. She also worked at the University of Michigan Medical Center Emergency Department for 15 years and as a cruise ship nurse where she treated patients from around the world. Renee has been described by her colleagues as tenacious and a brilliant nurse, excellent at diagnosing and understanding patient needs.

Renee loved being with her nieces, nephew and cousins. She would often spend her days off babysitting many of the children in her family. The children flocked to her and loved to spend their time playing with Renee.

Renee and Ives relocated from Michigan in April of 2017 to Sun City, Arizona, where she and Ives were very active with the greyhound adoption. She and Ives had two greyhounds and five cats.
To say Renee loved animals would be an understatement, she was known to not pass a dog without petting it. Renee was also very selfless and would help others' care for their pets, as well.
