Judith (Judy Mae) Welch, 66, passed away Sunday morning, October 18th, 2009 at Memorial Hospital of Texas County. The daughter of Julia E. (Lewis) and Lawrence W. Smith, she was born June 29, 1943 in Kismet, Kansas. Judy was reared in Goodwell, Oklahoma and graduated from Goodwell High School with the Class of 1961. She was united in marriage to David A. Welch on August 16, 1959 at the Panhandle Centenary United Methodist Church in Goodwell. Judy attended Panhandle State University. The Welch family moved to Guymon in 1965. She had owned and operated Rent-A-Maid for over 10 years. She was a member of Victory Memorial United Methodist Church and was a member of the Joy Circle. One of Judy’s greatest joys were her children and grandchildren. Survivors include her husband of 50 years, David Welch; a daughter, Rhonda K. Welch-Hintergardt and husband, Tim Hintergardt of Liberal, KS; a son, David Lee Welch and wife, Maria of Fairfield, CA; four sisters, Phyllis and husband, Jess Epple of Warner, OK; Elizabeth Jones of Goodwell; Audrey and husband, Frankie Green of Guymon; and Arlene Sue Shipley of Amarillo, TX; and her eight adoring grandchildren, Shelly, Shane and Amanda Welch, Britny, Macy and Kambry Hintergardt; Benjamin Welch-Meraz; and Rachel Hintergardt. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Larry Don Welch who passed away in 2002.
