Jerry Kalenze

Jerome Max Kalenze, 65, of Garner, NC passed into eternal rest on June 24th, 2017.

Jerome was born on May 5th, 1952 to LeRoy Sr and Amity (Landowski) Kalenze in Big Bend, ND. He grew up in Grand Forks, ND and graduated from Central in 1970. After high school he attended the University of North Dakota. He married Madonna Dorsher in 1971 and together they had four children. He enlisted in the Army in 1972, was stationed in Fort Belvoir and a tour of duty in Korea in 1973-74. He worked at the GFPD throughout the 80's until he started working at Simplot in 1998. There he met his soulmate, Paula Diane Hamilton, and married her in August of 2004. They retired from Simplot in August of 2016 and made their home in Garner, NC.

He is survived by his wife, Paula; four children, Amity (Tom) Zine, Chelsea (Shawn) Pengilly, John (Bessie) Kalenze, Anna (Peter) Akinboro; his step daughter, Nancy (Joe) Stephens; 12 grandchildren and a great granddaughter; his siblings, Heidi Sundell, Mark Kalenze, Mary Kalenze, Kathe Johnson, Les (Ruth) Kalenze, Joe (Gail) Kalenze, Greg Kalenze, and Steve (Wendy) Kalenze; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and four siblings, LeRoy Kalenze, Jr., Sr. Frieda Kalenze, Linus Kalenze, Kevin J. Kalenze, nephew Kenneth Kalenze, niece Katie Kalenze, and brother-in-law Donnie Sundell Sr.

A private service will be held for his immediate family members on June 29th in Garner, NC.

A memorial celebration will be held at the VFW in East Grand Forks on July 16th at 5PM. His wife and children invite all family and friends to join in celebrating his life.
