Ruben J. Obregon, 64, of Minot, ND and formerly of Grand Forks, ND passed away Friday, March 18, 2016 in Trinity Hospital in Minot.

Ruben was born March 21, 1951 in Grand Forks, ND the son of John and Amalia Obregon. He was raised in Grand Forks, graduating from Grand Forks Central High School in 1970. Ruben married Rosemary Steffen in June of 1971. Following their marriage, they resided in Grand Forks raising their two children, Melissa “Missy” and Jason. Ruben was employed with Concrete Sectional and Culvert and later Hanson-Maves Moving. Ruben married Lola Blazer on February 14, 1996 in Elko, NV. They moved to Minot and Ruben was employed with Hanson-Maves Moving. Ruben enjoyed listening to classic music of the 1950’s and 1960’s and restoring classic cars. He was an avid NASCAR fan and was a proud member of the Spicer Racing Team and the Skari Racing Team of Grand Forks. He was a member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Minot and the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 20 years, Lola Blazer, Minot, ND; a daughter, Melissa (Anthony) Apuzzo, Greenwood Lake, NY; a son, Jason (Fiancée, Kaylie Baird) Obregon, Grand Forks, ND; Lola’s children, Randi Galegher; and Nick (Stacey) Jackson, raised lovingly by Ruben and Lola, all of Minot, ND; his former wife, Rosemary Steffen, Fargo, ND; siblings, John (Viola) Obregon, St. Paul, MN, Aurora Estevez, St. Paul, MN, Eloisa (Mrs. Robert) Maldonado, Detroit, MI, Theodore (Patty) Obregon, East Grand Forks, MN, Daniel (Scharlene) Obregon, Grand Forks, ND, Raymond (Kathryn) Obregon, Bismarck, ND, Isabelle (Harold) Bonk, Saskatoon, SK, Canada, Gloria (Bobby) Deerman, Alabama, Maria (Roy) Smith, Gallant, AL, Leonel (Cathy) Obregon, Edward (Elizabeth) Obregon; a sister-in-law, Nancy (Mrs. Richard) Obregon, all of Grand Forks, ND; 8 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

 He was preceded in death by parents and brothers, Richard and Jesse.

 Mass of Christian Burial: 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2016 in St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND.
Visitation: 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday with a 4:30 p.m. rosary service and 7:00 p.m. vigil service in the Historic Norman Funeral Home-Gregory J. Norman Funeral Chapel. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Wednesday.
Interment: Calvary North Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
