ENTER - Gerald Allen Anderson, 55, Center, died April 24, 2010, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Services will be held at 10 a.m. CDT Wednesday, April 28, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Center, with the Rev. Dennis Ristvedt officiating. Interment will follow at a later date.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. CDT Tuesday at the church.
Gerald was born and baptized on May 3, 1954, at Breckenridge, Minn., the son of Stanley and Margaret (Sweere) Anderson. He was raised and educated in Grand Forks, graduating from Central High School in 1972. Gerald had various jobs after high school including the Simplot plant in Grand Forks, Kirby Vacuum and Valley Auto Sales. In September 1979, he moved to Center and began working at Minnkota Power Coop. He was employed for 30½ years and was there for pure job satisfaction. Gerald was also self-employed with Eagle Vending Systems and the Eagle Arcade.
Gerald loved to hunt, bowl, play chess, throw darts and was an avid card player. He also had a passion for gardening. He was a volunteer fire fighter, a Den Leader for the Boy Scouts, the Local IBEW 1953 Union and served on the Planning and Zoning Committee for Oliver County. He was a member of the Jaycees and became an honorary lifetime senate member.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Anderson, Center; one daughter, Terrilynn Anderson, Tenino, Wash.; three sons, Michael (Laine) Anderson, Bismarck, Brian (Amy) Anderson, Dwight, and Jason (Roxanne) Anderson, Sherwood, Ore.; three stepdaughters, Amanda Myers, Center, Carrie Myers, Mandan, and Darla Myers, Brainerd, Minn.; one stepson, Howard Myers, Center; 14 grandchildren, Morgan, Madison, Caiden, Alexis, Rebekah, Benjamin, Dawn, Isaiah, Nolen, Jonathon, Kimberly, Emma, Michael and Colin; three sisters, Judy (Les) Krogfoss, Litchburg, Wis., Mary (Bill) Andersen, Apple Valley, Minn., and Shelly (Dan) Wasylow, Arvilla; one brother, John Anderson and Pat Siebert, Minneapolis; two half-brothers, Stan (Kelly) Whitebird, White Bear Lake, Minn., and Terry (Susan) Whitebird, Gifford, Ill.; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
