Frances “Jean” Brown, 60 of Grand Forks, ND passed away Saturday, March 28, 2015 surrounded by her family at her home.

 

Frances Jeanette Brown was born June 6, 1954 in Minot, ND the daughter of Casey and Loretta (Vondal) Brown. She moved with her family to Grand Forks where she graduated from Grand Forks Central High School in 1972 and attended the University of North Dakota, majoring in Psychology. She was employed with Altru Hospital, formerly United Hospital, for 29 years as a manager in Environmental Services. She was an active participant in A.A. and sponsored several members in their sobriety. She started an A.A. women’s program for inmates in the Grand Forks County Correctional Center as well as starting support groups in Manvel, ND and the surrounding communities. She had a great love for A.A. and took a lot of pride in the program. Jean loved fishing, bird watching, camping, playing Bingo and spending time with her family.

 

She is survived by her sisters, Linda Brown, Grand Forks, ND; LaRae (Jonas) Stoltfus, Las Vegas, NV; daughters, Cheryl Enninga, Tina Wentz and Shorty, Kelly Enninga, Jennifer Enninga and Wendy Enninga all of Grand Forks, ND; 8 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild, Trinity; as well as 4 nephews and 2 nieces.

She was preceded in death by her father, Casey Brown; her mother, Loretta Schlenker and husband Jim Bentley.

In lieu of flowers, please forward memorials to Jean’s Family. Memorials will be donated to Altru Cancer Center, Trinity Lutheran Church and A.A.

 

Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 4, 2015 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Manvel, ND,

Visitation: One hour prior to the service in the church on Saturday.

Interment: Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND, in the spring.
