William “Bill” P. Reynolds

William “Bill” Patrick Reynolds, 67 of Grand Forks, ND died peacefully Monday, February 7th, 2022 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.

Bill was born to the late George and Kathleen (Fugleseth) Reynolds in Grand Forks, ND on May 25th, 1954.  He was raised in Grand Forks and graduated from Central High School in 1972.  He married his high school sweetheart, Avis Lindemoen.  Bill worked for 42 years at Burlington Northern Railroad as a Switchman/Brakeman and retired as a Yardmaster.

Bill was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman.  Family was most important to Bill, his favorite days were those he spent with his sons and grandchildren.  He took pride in teaching his boys and grandchildren all he knew about hunting, fishing, water skiing, training hunting dogs, and how to grow the best grass in the neighborhood. Bill was his grandchildren’s number one fan and was present at many sporting, church, and school events.  He had a special relationship with each one of his grandchildren and was a strong presence in each of their lives. Bill and Avis loved taking drives together to look at wildlife.

Bill made friends everywhere he went.  He was loved by many and enjoyed talking, laughing, and spending time with his friends from Maple Lake, the pheasant farm where he was a hunting guide, the other grandparents he met at his grandchildren’s activities, and his lifelong hunting buddies.

Another passion of Bill’s was coaching wrestling, first at Valley Jr. High and then the GF youth wrestling Tilt Club. He most treasured the time he spent coaching his two boys during their wrestling careers.

Bill is survived by his wife Avis of 48½ years, son Shane (Andrea), son Damon (Kristina), grandchildren Mason, Caleb, Chase, Daniel (Ashley), Becca, Shane Ryan, two great grandchildren Jeremy and Cody, brother John (Vicki) Reynolds, sister in law Judy Behm, brother in laws Dennis (Karen) Lindemoen and Terry Lindemoen, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother and brothers George and Donald.

Funeral: Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Grand Forks.

Avis and Family, Nancy and I are so very sad for you. He will greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He worked on the railroad with my Dad Walter Wockovich on the Burlington Northern for many years. My dad always spoke highly of Bill and said he was a good rail and a good guy. My friendship with Bill goes back to our days on Central’s wrestling team. Bill really loved being a grappler. I wish I could figure out what his hobbies were. Ha Ha. He really loved the great outdoors. I saw another friend in your photo montage, Roger Hollovoet another great lover of hunting and fishing. We will miss seeing Bill sitting in your garage. He would always offer me a beer. I wish I had taken him up on it more often. Too often the good die too young. It doesn’t seem fair. May god be with you and your family. I am sure Bill will be watching over you.  Rick Wockovich and Nancy Endres.

Avis, Shane & Damon families, I am so sorry for the loss of such a great man! Bill was really a great man! My favorite story was when Shane and I went with Bill out deer hunting and we were walking a ravine type area and I was telling stories to Shane when a deer jumped out of a small patch of cat tails and I pulled up my gun and it jammed and would not shoot. Bill yelled over to me that if I didn't get my gun up and ready he was going to come over and kick my butt! Shane yelled back at him to knock it off and settle down. Afterwards Bill apologized after learning I did have it ready it just jammed up and wouldn't fire. We would always laugh about that time as I was very scared that Bill was going to get me. Nothing but love to the Reynolds family! When I get back to GF I will reach out to Shane and catch up. DJ

Dear Avis and family,  My heart is just heavy thinking of all of you.  My Hollevoet family came to know  “Billy” from the day he was born.  Living right next door for many many years, Bill and Roger had a relationship that was lifelong.  I can still see those two little toddlers and all the fun they had together.  Roger and Bill were so fortunate to continue that very close relationship throughout their adult lives. I am convinced that God is holding Bill very close in heaven as he is reunited with his mother and father.  I lovingly add that my own dear Gordy who died last March was very likely there to greet dear Billl as well. Darn, hurts to lose such a great man, friend, wrestler, coach, father, family man. One of the greatest remembrance of Bill was a beautiful, warm, winter evening with huge snow flacks gently floating down. Bill, Avis, Val and I where play broomball on the ice rink and walking down Reeves drive. Young, laughing, enjoying life. Much Love from the Ames family; Vince

I am sorry to hear of Bill’s passing. We are the same age. I met Bill back in our grade school days while in summer school, and we stayed friends all the way through high school. Bill was a good guy to have around if you ever needed help in a fight.  I liked what Avis and he did to our old lake home. Rest In Peace Bill.
