Melanie Moen

Moen, Melanie September 5, 1964 - April 7, 2012 Lawyer and writer who loved animals, music, literature and the ocean. Resident of Valley Village, Melanie graduated from Cornell (1986) and American U.'s Washington College of Law (1991). Joined the American Film Marketing Association (now Independent Film & Television Alliance) in Los Angeles to establish its legal department, becoming its key liaison with the Motion Picture Association of America, government officials in Washington and the FBI on all matters pertaining to piracy, copyright and marketplace access issues. Promoted to the newly created position of vice president for governmental relations and legal affairs in 1998. Left in 2000 to work as a writer and independent contract attorney. Preceded in death by father, Arnold Moen. Married to musician David Price;marriage ended, but the two remained close. Survived By: mother Phyllis Moen, stepfather Richard Shore, sister Deborah Moen, nephews James and William Frickstad, and grandmother Myrtle Moen.
