Richard “Rick” Curtis Bellmore, 54, of Grand Forks, ND, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 in his home from a heart attack.      

Rick was born on December 29, 1955 in Grand Forks, ND, the twin son of Joseph and Esther Bellmore.  He was raised and educated here.  Rick graduated from Red River High School in 1974 where he was involved in many school activities including playing on the varsity basketball team and the school band.  He enlisted into the U.S. Army following graduation, serving two tours of duty in Germany.  He received training for inhalation therapy in the service and worked in that field while living in California.  He married Jayne Tschider in 1976, they later divorced.  Rick had a great love of music and played the drums in several bands of which the Army band was his favorite.

Rick was diagnosed with Schizophrenia at the age of 25.   He lived on his own in Grand Forks for many years.  Rick enjoyed going to movies, listening to music, days at Mountainbrook, and spending time with his long time companion Susan Aasand.  He took great pride in the cars he owned throughout his lifetime, mainly red Pontiacs.  The family would like to express our gratitude toward the employees of Northeast Human Service Center, Prairie Harvest Services, Mountainbrook, and his neighbors at his apartment building for the wonderful friendships and the care they have given Rick over the past years.

He is survived by his parents, Joseph and Esther Bellmore, Grand Forks, ND; brothers,  Jeff (Carol) Bellmore, Puposky, MN, Twin brother—Randy (Ruth) Bellmore, Rosemount, MN, Joe (Sherrie) Bellmore, Vacaville, CA; sisters, Diana (Tim) Uggerud, Alexandria, MN, Maria (Jay) Vasichek, Michigan, ND; 11 nephews and 3 nieces; 1 great nephew; 1 great niece; many aunts, uncles, cousins and long time companion Susan Aasand, Grand Forks, ND.

Rick was preceded in death by, a sister, Deborah Jo Minton on March 17th, 1990 and his grandparents, William and Katherine Bellmore and John and Elizabeth Wageman. 

Funeral Liturgy: 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2010 in the Gregory J. Norman - Norman Funeral Chapel, 2950 S. Washington St., Grand Forks, ND. 

Visitation: One hour before services in the funeral chapel on Wednesday only.

Interment: Calvary Cemetery, Grand Forks, North Dakota, in the spring.

Military Honors: Members of the American Legion Post 157, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3817 and the North Dakota National Guard, in the spring.
