Deborah Holli (CHS)

Deborah “Deb” Holli, 62, of Grand Forks, ND passed away Monday, July 15, 2019 at her home in Grand Forks.

Deborah Jean Holli was born August 24, 1956 in Columbus, OH the daughter of Arnold Victor and Helen Marie (Antilla) Holli. She grew up in Grand Forks, attending Lincoln Elementary School, South Junior High School, and Grand Forks Central High School.

She had a love for the outdoors, including camping, fishing, and various other activities. When at the lake cabin, she could always be found with a fishing reel in hand, tackle box by her side, enjoying the breeze from off of the lake. One of her friends shared with us that while spending time with her, Deb had her stop the car so she could get the right photo of a swan.

She had a love of service, which caused her to actively serve others, helping others, throughout her life.

  • Service in her church—As such, it was natural for her to serve an 18-month mission, For her church, (she was an active life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) to the Tempe Arizona Mission. Then upon her return from her mission, she enjoyed serving the young women of the church (for over 31 years) in various capacities Girls Camp such as camp nurse.
  • Service in her employment—With love of service, Deb had nursing in her blood. She was a Nurse’s Aide. She then attended Ricks College in Rexburg ID, for the years of 1976 through 1978. Later Attending North Dakota State School of Science, receiving a Licensed Practical Nurse degree, and obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of North Dakota. She was employed at Valley Memorial Home and Valley 4000.
  • Service to her community – She also volunteered at The Circle of Friends Humane Society and at The Red Cross.
  • Service for The Humane Society was an out- growth of her love for animals. Over the years, she fostered many animals. Due to her love of animals, it is difficult to find a picture of her without one in it, especially one of her cats.
  • Service for The Red Cross—Due to failing health, she retired early and changed her focus to serving The Red Cross. Eventually, she became the Nurse for The Red Cross for The State of North Dakota. She served The Red Cross for over 15 years, in which she served through three national state disasters, which involved hurricanes, floods, tornadoes.

She taught the love of camping and fishing to many of her nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her father, Arnold (Barbara) Holli; her sisters, Barbara Holli, Diane J. Miller, Doreen Loos and Denise Holli and a brother, Daniel Holli.  She is also survived by 7 nieces, 9 nephews, 6 great-nieces, 4 great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Marie (Antilla) Holli on February 8, 1990 and a niece and 8 of her animals.

Services: Were held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2019 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – 2814 Cherry Street, Grand Forks ND 58201.
