Jeff D. Kavadas, 48, Grand Forks, ND died Sunday of natural causes at his family's lake home on Union Lake, near Erskine, MN.

Jeffrey Dean Kavadas was born on June 12, 1956 in Grand Forks, NDthe son of Gabriel S. Jr.  and Joyce (Chase) Kavadas. He graduated from Grand Forks Central High School in 1974. He enlisted in the US Army in 1974 serving until his separation in 1977. He continued as a reservist in the ND National Guard until 1987. He attended the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, ND and graduated with degrees in Criminal Justice and Political Science. In 1981 be served as a deputy in the Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Department. In 1982 he began serving as a Grand Forks Police Officer until his retirement in 2003. Officer Kavadas was active in G.R.E.A.T. (Gang Resistance Education And Training) and the  ‘Eddy the Eagle’ programs in the Grand Forks Public School System. He married Cindi Argall on February 19, 1981 at UnitedLutheran Church, Grand Forks, ND.

Jeffrey is survived by his daughters, Nichole Kavadas, Grand Forks, ND, Jenna (Brooks) Johnson, Hagerstown, MD, Kristina Kavadas, Gainesville, FL and their mother Cindi; a granddaughter, Kaya Kavadas; sisters, Margo (Terry) Eickenbrock and Susan (Jay) Evenstad both of Grand Forks, ND and a brother, Michael (Melanie) Kavadas, Minot, ND, his mother, Joyce and step-father, Doug Eisenzimmer, Erskine, MN.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gabriel S. Jr.; maternal grandparents, Fred and Lillian Chase and paternal grandparents, Gabriel S. Sr. and Devina Kavadas.

Services:  2:00 p.m. Friday in United Lutheran Church, Grand Forks, ND.

Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service in Gregory J. Norman Funeral Chapel – Norman Funeral Home, S. Washington St., Grand Forks, ND and one hour before services in the church on Friday.

Burial: Nisbet Cemetery, Mallory, MN.

Military Honors: Members of the American Legion Post 157 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3817.
