Arthur “Art” Peter Nielsen, 68, of Grand Forks, ND, passed away Sunday, October 6, 2024, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, after a long battle with diabetes.

Art was born in Grand Forks, ND on July 13, 1956, to Arthur and Bernice (Flink) Nielsen. He graduated from Grand Forks Central High School, class of 1974. He went on to earn a degree in business from the University of North Dakota. 

Art married Diane Rudrud on June 9, 1979. He worked many jobs around town including: United Hospital, Simplot, Walmart and LM Wind Power. He loved Diane, his children and his granddaughter. He enjoyed the local music scene and Minnesota Wild and UND hockey.

Art is survived by Diane; his children, Paige (Bryan) Sims of Fargo, ND, Johannes Nielsen of Grand Forks, ND; granddaughter, Emmalyn; sisters, Kathy Mutcher and Arlys (Paul) Slusar of Grand Forks, ND and his nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Mildred Rudrud; father-in-law, Glenn Rudrud; and brother-in-law, Bud Mutcher.
