Steven A. Traub, 55, of Grand Forks, ND passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2010 in Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.

Steven Allen Traub was born July 9, 1954 in Minot, ND the son of Reinhold F. and Ella B. (Metzger) Traub.  He lived with his family in Garrison, ND until they moved to Grand Forks in 1965.  Steve attended The North Dakota School for the Blind and graduated from Grand Forks Central High School in 1974.  He attended the University of North Dakota and was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity (TKE).  Steve married Jane ReNae Bruse on June 17, 1979 in University Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. Following their marriage, they resided in Grand Forks raising their children. He was employed in the Physical Therapy Department of United Hospital. Later, he was employed with the Gregory J. Norman Funeral Chapel from 1993 to 2007.  Following his semi-retirement, he continued to assist at the funeral home and playing in bands.

Steve began playing the drums during grade school and continued through high school playing in the Jazz and Concert Bands.  He was a percussionist and drummer with many bands in Grand Forks including, Tork, The Bill Maynard and the Countrymen, The Country Gentleman, Sleepless Nights, The Wackers and Whiskey Sam.  For several years, Steve along with his friend Steve Augustin hosted “Cay Jam”.   He loved animals, especially his cat, Garfieldand his dogs, Misty, Petey and Cassie.

He was a member of University Lutheran Church, The Way of Life Group (since 1983) and a supporter of the Grand Forks Police and Police Reserve.  He was a devoted father, gentleman, an accomplished musician and avid Beatles fan.

He is survived by, his sons, Barry (Rachel) Traub, Fisher, MN, Joel Traub, Fargo, ND; the mother of his children, Jane (Bruse) Traub; a sister, Beverly (David) Nelson, Altoona, WI; brothers, Burton (Gwen) Traub, Phoenix, AZ, Leonard (Janet) Traub, Edmonton, Alberta and 1 granddaughter, Avery Rebecca Traub.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Service:  11:00 a.m. Monday, June 7, 2010 in UniversityLutheran Church, Grand Forks, ND.

Visitation: 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday with a 8:00 p.m. prayer service in the Gregory J. Norman Funeral Chapel.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to the funeral service in the church on Monday.

Open Mic. Jam: 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday on the west lawn of the funeral home.

Interment: 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2010 in Memorial ParkCemetery North, Grand Forks, ND.
