From 7th through 12th grades, Lynne Wingler was one of the smartest, cutest girls I knew. As happened with many of us, when we graduated from high school, we went our separate ways. When I came back to Grand Prairie in 2010 to care for my mom, though, I ran into Lynne right away at a nearby grocery store, and rode my bike over to her house one afternoon shortly thereafter, where we sat and chatted for hours, until long after dark. It was fun catching up, as we both had tales to tell, and Lynne was as delightful as she'd always been, bright and funny and kind.
In the years since then, we've run into each other in and around that same grocery store a number of times. We didn't stay caught up, though, and I am both surprised and saddened to learn of her passing here. I don't know any of the details, so all I can hope is that she was ready to go and that her suffering, if there was any, was brief. Rest in peace, Lynne Wingler Hale, one of the smartest, cutest girls I ever knew.
I have known Lynne since 5th grade when we both attended Lamar Elementary. During the 5th grade year our class had a test. One of the questions was 'if you place one foot on the scale and weighed 50 pounds, when you place both feet on the scale will you weigh 100 pounds?' Lynne was the only one in class of 20-30 kids that got the answer correct. I knew then she was one of the smartest ones at our school. She was also very athletic, kind, and down to earth. I will miss you Lynne!
