POST FALLS -- Roger W. Scholten, 53, a former Grangeville resident, died April 15 at Post Falls. The cause of death is pending a corner's report.

He was born Sept. 28, 1946, at Cottonwood to Ben and Minnie Scholten. He grew up and attended schools in Grangeville.

Following school he enlisted in the Idaho National Guard and served in Vietnam.

Upon his return from Vietnam, he worked as a meter reader for Washington Water Power in Grangeville.

He married Connie Wadley June 1, 1963 at Boise. They later divorced.

Scholten moved to Orofino, where he was a lineman for the power company before moving to Spokane and then to Post Falls. He was an investor for Avista Utilities at the time of his death.

He received a Life Service Award for saving the life of a lineman while living in Spokane.

He enjoyed fishing, playing the stock market and antique collecting.

Survivors include a son, Nick Scholten of Federal Way, Wash.; one daughter, Camille Evans of Wenatchee, his father at Grangeville; one brother, Jerry Scholten of Boise; and two grandchildren.

A graveside inurnment was held at Prairie View Cemetery at Grangeville.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 733 Third Ave., New York, NY 10017.
