Norm entered the U.S. Navy on Nov. 15, 1965, and while in the service he married Jane Shepherd on Feb. 18, 1966, at the Catholic church in Grangeville. Norm was discharged from the Navy on Nov. 31, 1970. The Stephens family returned home to Grangeville.

Later, in 1972, the family moved to Lewiston, and he worked numerous jobs including C and B Music, Ristau Vending, Blount Inc. and the U.S. Postal Service, which he retired from on Nov. 1, 2012. During his working years, he liked to go hunting, but turned more to camping and traveling the national campgrounds. Some very special friends remain that went camping with us, Pawko and Daisy Mae.

Norm is survived by his wife, Jane Stephens; two daughters, Tammy and Sheila Stephens; three grandchildren, Holly Olson, Matthew Olson and Amanda Wilkes; two great-grandchildren, Ivory and Koven; and brother- and sister-in-law, Dennis and Karen Shepherd; and sister-in-law Sharon Latimer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert G. and Clara Bell (Kilborn) Stephens; and mother- and father-in-law Foy Adam and Bernadine (Mager) Shepherd.

So many thanks to the paramedics in Coeur d'Alene, Debi from Elite Hospice, the Coeur d'Alene police officer, and special thanks to Dr. James Fisher in Clarkston, who has been such a great help through all of this.
