I have so many Rito stories I really don’t know where to begin. He was my first friend upon moving to Great Bend in the 3rd grade. We hung out together and even worked together at McCurdy Hatchery for a time while going to high school. I might add working with Rito was a ball. If you can imagine cleaning baby chicks cages being fun, it truly was with Rito. Rolling jelly rolls as he called them then putting fresh newspaper under the cages. Rito, Kenny Vink and I really had all the chicks we could handle. In later years Rito served as the best man at my first wedding. To this day I can’t think of a better choice. Even though we didn’t see each other often in the later years, in my heart he remained my best friend. Rito was loved by all who knew him. He will be forever missed.
