Walter was killed in combat in Vietnam on March 3, 1969.  Some of his family and friends remember him on this linked site.  http://www.vvmf.org/Wall-of-Faces/44791/WALTER-W-RUDOLPH

I have tears in my eyes knowing that this young boy never experienced life as we know it.  We are in our 70s now.  We've had childen, and grandchildren.  Jobs, vacations.  We've loved and been loved, and so much more.  War is stupid.....Excuse me, Walter died in a "conflict".

Walt was part of our High School "gang" called the Nordics. Members were Richy Ambron, Ray LeBer, Walter Reinhart, Myself, and the quiet strenght of Walter Rudolf. When we lost Walt, we all cried... and do to this day that his life, so promising, was cut short. I remember the parties in his basement and his joy when he broke 5:30 in the mile run. I remember the coming of the Beatles and humming "I want to hold your hand". Walt... how we miss you... maybe we will all hold hands once again. John
