In Memory

Ronald H. Murphy

GREENSBORO Ron H. Murphy, Jr., 57, of Badin Lake, formerly of Greensboro, died Saturday, August 25, 2018. Memorial service will be 2 p.m., Sunday, September 2, 2018, at Pleasant Garden Baptist Church. Ron was a graduate of Ben L. Smith High School. Following school, he went on to proudly serve his country with the United States Army for four years. Ron recently retired from Engineered Control Systems, Inc. in Randleman, which he owned and operated. He was also a member of Pleasant Garden Baptist Church. Ron had a passion for fishing. He participated in local bass fishing tournaments and was a volunteer with Operation North State taking veterans out on his boat for a day of fishing. Ron had other passions as well, including coaching baseball with the Pleasant Garden Community Center and restoring midyear Corvettes. He was blessed with a generous and caring heart. A man that never met a stranger, he was quick to help those in need. He also had a love for his God as evidenced by the way he lived his life. And Ron loved his family unconditionally, being a mentor to his sons and a loving husband to his wife. Ron is preceded in death by his father, Ronald H. Murphy, Sr. He is survived by his wife, Maria Murphy; sons, Trey (Toya), Grant and Sean; mother, Carolyn Murphy; brothers, Jeff (Kathy) and Mark (Sabrina); and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends that will always miss him. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall. Ron always had a relaxed and laid-back attitude, so to honor his memory, we ask that your dress attire on Sunday reflect your relationship with him. Keep in mind that his favorite color was green. That might mean a baseball jersey, car t-shirt, fishing shirt, hats, business attire or jeans. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to Operation North State by making your donation payable to Maria Murphy, c/o Pinnacle Bank, PO Box 489, Albemarle, NC 28002. Maria will be making a gift presentation to Operation North State in the near future. There is also a Go Fund Me page that has been set up to establish an education fund for Grant and Sean Murphy. George Brothers Funeral Service is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
