John Timothy Haley 
January 16, 1951 - January 2, 2022 
Charlotte, North Carolina - John T. Haley, age 70, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Sunday, January 2, 2022, surrounded by his family. 
John was born January 16, 1951, in Lynn, Massachusetts to the late John F. and Mary (Gallagher) Haley. Following his graduation in 1969 from Grimsley High School in Greensboro, NC, John pursued a degree in Sociology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His career took him to Boston, Massachusetts and Brownsville, Texas, before settling in Mount Holly and then Charlotte, where he worked for Charlotte Douglas Airport for more than 30 years. 
A talented baseball and football player in his youth, John remained an avid sports fan throughout his life, reserving special affection for his beloved Boston Red Sox. He loved the mountains and the ocean and especially local lakes that reminded him of Sebago Lake in Maine where he vacationed as a child. 
John will be remembered by his family as a gentle soul, quick to show up at every family event with a smile on his face, a kind word for everyone and an infectious sense of humor. 
John is survived by his sisters; Betty Anne Haley and Patricia (Haley) Goolsby, both of Charlotte, Susan (Haley) Penta and spouse, Joe of Grand Lake, CO, and Rita (Haley) Primpas and spouse, Bill of West Melbourne, FL, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents as well as his sister Mary Jane (Haley) Bruton of Charlotte and his younger brother Peter F. Haley of Greensboro, NC. 
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to a favorite charity of your choice. A private family service will be held at a later date.
