I remember Phil from Playmasters. He helped build sets enjoyed shop classes and was a great stagehand... very serious about his work. I don't remember much else except that he kept tools handy, was always good for a laugh or just to help out anyone who needed it, enjoyed working on the lights and sets and always had the largest ring full of keys hanging from his belt that I had ever seen. You always knew when he was nearby because with all those keys hanging from his waist, he jingled when he walked.

Phil was a great guy. I also remember him mostly thru Playmasters and other Grimsley "drama" related activities where he was a dedicated and skilled "techie," always available for a good wise-crack.

Phil kind of reminded me of a young "Lou Grant;" whereas he sometimes appeared to have some outwardly "gruff' edges while obviously rich in heart (immediately apparent after any brief conversation).

I was quite saddened when I recently found out of his passing...much too young of an age. I'm certain that he is fondly remembered by anyone who ever had the opportunity to know him or make his acquaintance.

It was really heartbreaking when I first learned of Phil's passing a couple of years back. The thing I recall best was what a gentleman he was. I remember once a group of us had gone to see a film at the Janus, but some scenes shook up one of the younger ladies with our group and Phil didn't hesitate to offer to drive her home. That's the big-hearted kind of guy he was. He'll certainly be missed at this reunion.
