My dad and Andrew's dad worked together for many years. I don't remember what year he died but I do know he was living in Greensboro when he passed. We were in MYF together and his brother Mark and my sister Laurie were very good friends.

Andrew was a very special man, blessed with humor, a love for adventure, a fascination for technology, and a quiet drive to challenge convention. But his shyness kept him in the shadows, afraid to make many friends. I was blessed to befriend him while we were in the 8th grade at Kiser Middle School (Greensboro). I too was painfully shy, and finding Andrew changed my life. Finally someone I could confide in, relax with and be myself!After Andrew and I graduated from Grimsley we had to part ways, but we always kept in touch. He attended Lees McRae College, and after graduation moved back to Greensboro. His love of computers lead him to working with the mainframe at a local business. He saved up his money (always the frugal one!) and bought a nice little house here in town.
About that time Leslie, a mutual friend of both of us, became my true love, and I proposed to her. I was delighted to have Andrew serve as my best man at our wedding in Herndon, Virginia; a memory that will be with me forever.
Unfortunately this tale has a sad ending. Several weeks after our wedding Andrew died in a tragic accident. He was laid to rest here in Greensboro, where his family, my wife and I still visit to wish him peace.
