In Memory

David O. Bowden

David Oates Bowden passed from this earth into the strong and secure arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, February 11, 2014. His number one priority in life was to worship and serve the Lord, doing so with grace, dignity, truth, generosity, passion and a huge smile.

David was a faithful and loving husband to his wife, Susan Cash Bowden, father to his two children, Sarah Bowden and Rachel Bowden, loyal son to his parents Donald Lee Bowden & Dorothy Oates Bowden, and the best brother imaginable to his siblings, Don Bowden, Jr., the late James Robert (Bob) Bowden, Kathy Bowden Sheffield, and Carol Bowden Hodgin. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. David was born July 17, 1966 in Greensboro. He graduated from UNC-G and earned a Masters of Divinity Degree from Liberty University.

David served as Senior Pastor of Mt. Bethel Church in Summerfield, NC for 6-years (1996-2003) and Associate Pastor for Trinity Church in Greensboro, NC for 11-years (2003-2014). He led the youth and senior adult ministries, was a praise team vocalist and was the executive director of Upward Basketball where he touched the hearts of many in the name of Jesus. A gifted tennis player, he was the coach of Caldwell Academy's girls tennis team. His preaching style was grace-filled and full of truth. Always loyal, always faithful, always loving, always pure in body and spirit, always truth-filled with a touch of grace, always smiling, always ready for hard work mixed with fun; this was David Bowden, a godly man on a godly mission. Well-done, good and faithful servant. Enter now into eternal life with your heavenly Father.

Celebration of life service will be held Sunday, February 16th at 3:00pm at Trinity Church, 5200 West Friendly Ave., Greensboro, NC.
