Major Jon Gregory Martin, 39, of Wilmington, died Friday, February 19, 2010, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Martin was an active duty Major of the United States Marine Corp. having received the following awards: Air Medal-Strike/Flight, Navy and Marine Corps. Commendation Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, and Letter of Appreciation.

He is survived by his Wife: Stephanie Shackelford Martin of Wilmington One Son: Jon Gregory Martin II of Wilmington and One Daughter: Grace Elizabeth Martin of Montreat, NC. Parents: Richard and Frances Martin of Greensboro, NC. One Brother: Jeffrey Evans Martin of Greensboro, NC.
