Thirty years has flown by!! I started college at Appalachian but had too much fun. I spent the next few years going part-time and waiting tables.
I traveled when possible, enjoyed live music, reviewed movies for a small newspaper and kissed a lot of frogs! I finally started to grow up in my 30's. I got my degree at UNC-G. While there, I had a summer school film class with fellow Page grad Paul Davis(1978). We started dating and as the saying goes the rest is history. We were married within the year.
I finally quit smoking cigarettes on April Fool's Day in 1998. I thought that would be appropriate. I soon started having serious breathing issues. Long story short, I was diagnosed with a genetic condition called Alpha-1 Antitrypsen deficiency. I was on Oxygen 24/7 and on the transplant waiting list within the year. The last 10 years have been a challenge but I am hopeful that science is on the verge of amazing things! I work for a home health company as a consumer advocate. I speak to other Alphas that take the augmentation therapy I take. I give them encouragement and help with any problems like nursing, insurance, or billing. It is great to work from home in PJ's!!
We are blessed to live in the park like older neighborhood of Hamilton Forest. Paul and I have a spoiled baby dog, Nicklaus. Paul takes great care of us.
