David D. Williams

Started at UNC in '79, graduated from UNCG in '84 (Economics), married Karen, moved to Reston, Virginia, and worked for a defense contractor. Moved to Richmond in '88 and worked for the Commonwealth as an Economist. Son was born in '92, and I returned to school to study Computer Science (VCU). Moved to the Triad in '95, soon had a daughter, and moved to current house in High Point. Went through several jobs in the area before the current one (Accordant Health Services). Survived Burning Man 2003 almost intact. Returned to school once again in 2004 (Physics, UNCG). Favorite things to do include mountain biking, stained glass work, tinkering with cars with my son, building things in the backyard, assisting my daughter with her many projects, discussing (OK, ranting about) sustainability issues, and going on hiking and camping trips with wife and kids. Haven't played trombone since 2nd year in college, but never say never...

Most of the stories I recall involve band and orchestra... Spring '77 orchestra trip to Wilmington, band trips to Orlando and Nashville, Hrabovsky after-resignation trip to Litchfield Beach, All-State Band in Reidsville, orchestras for the dramas, school day jazz band performances. Some non-music department stuff stands out, including Mr. Angell's science fairs; the McDonald's 500; zoo, er, I mean Spanish class; Calculus dropout class; gatherings at Bert's farm (except for the motorcycle incident); having a few at House of Pizza after DeMolay; and hanging out in the parking lot before school.
