I met Kevin either in the 4th or 5th grade at Sternberger Elementary School when my family moved to Holden Road. Kevin and I became good friends and remained friends through high school. We lost contact as we went off to college but got reacquainted at the Grimsley 50th reunion week. Gail and I invited Kevin to dinner in downtown GreensboroThursday night of the reunion week and had a wonderful time. Good food, good conversation and good company. We talked about how Greenboro had changed in 50 years and about both of our love of baseball when growing up. Kevin kept up with it more than I did and it was interesting to learn all that he had done in the area of baseball since high school. We laughed about trying to watch the world series in Mrs Carr's classroom on a black and white TV that Billy Sewell had brought to class and stuggling with the rabbit ears antenna to get decent reception. Also, laughing about a trip to OD the 2nd week end in May wih a group of guys our senior year. We chatted on the phone several times since the reunion but unfortunately Gail's and my schedule had not taken us back to Greensboro since the reunion. Rest in peace, Kevin. You were a good friend.

Kevin was in my sunday school class at Grace Church from fairly early childhood. I was always glad to have him in my class in elementary school, since he was even worse at softball than I was. About six or eight years ago I did a bit of digging into my/our past in Greensboro, and I spoke at lengthe with Kevin on the phone. He was the person with whom I was most comfortable after decades had past. In going through the members of my high school class tonight the revelation that Kevin has recently died is the most troubling. Several times lately it has occurred to me that I should call him again.
