John is a classmate who will certainly be missed by everyone who knew him. Super nice guy. Having the opportunity to get reacquainted with John at the 50th HS reunion was one of the reunion highlights. Sorry to read of his untimely death.
I am shocked and heartbroken to hear of John's passing. He lived one street over from me and we were close friends through junior high and high school. We were Whirlie footballers together and had a lot of fun with our other teammates. He was always the kind, friendly, and generous buddy that we all appreciate having. I remember a two day canoe trip he and I took down the Elk River the summer after graduation before he left for the Air Force Academy and me to UNC. We kept in touch during those summer years of college but drifted apart after that. I talked with him at the 50th reunion and vowed to follow up with a visit at a later date. Sadly that didn't happen and now it's too late. You are missed, ol' pal. May God bless his family. RIP. Bill
